Ag Tech Startup TerraClear Raises $15M for Rock-Mapping and Picking Solutions
Ag tech startup, TerraClear, has secured $15 million in new funding to revolutionize rock-mapping and picking technology solutions for farmers. The funding will fuel the company's sales growth and partnerships with original equipment manufacturers. Led by Seattle’s Madrona Venture Group and CEO Brent Frei, the funding round adds to the $25 million Series A secured in May 2021. TerraClear, founded in 2017 by Frei, aims to simplify the laborious task of clearing large rocks from farmers’ fields. The company's innovative Rock Picker hardware, mountable on various machines, can pick hundreds of rocks per hour, while its software and AI continue to enhance rock mapping and route planning efficiency. The company aims to offer a comprehensive suite of services, including field mapping and rock picking, offering an exceptional business opportunity for local service providers. TerraClear CEO, Frei, draws parallels between the potential in the rock-clearing market and the evolution of a major tech giant. The company is also exploring autonomous rock-picking machines and has raised $53 million to date, employing around 40 people. The startup's remarkable progress and cutting-edge solutions have generated significant interest, with successful exposure from influential figures within the agricultural community, positioning TerraClear as an innovative leader in agricultural automation.
