Brussels has fined Apple €1.8bn for stifling competition from rival music streaming services, a first-time punishment for breaching EU law. Margrethe Vestager, the bloc’s competition chief, accused the tech giant of breaking EU antitrust rules for a decade. The penalty is the third-biggest antitrust fine imposed by the European Commission. Apple faces legal battles as it seeks to appeal the decision, amid growing tension between Brussels and Big Tech. The company is also facing new regulations under the Digital Markets Act, with a March 6 deadline for compliance.
