Australia has committed to investing A$1 billion to enhance domestic solar panel production, aiming to lessen its dependency on imports from China. The Solar Sunshot program is set to provide production subsidies and grants to support Australia in capturing a larger share of the global solar manufacturing supply chain. Despite being the world leader in rooftop solar uptake, with panels installed on one in three households, only 1% of these have been manufactured domestically. This initiative signifies the nation's concerted effort to bolster its self-reliance in the solar energy sector.
