The founder of cryptocurrency mixing service Bitcoin Fog, Roman Sterlingov, has been convicted in a Washington federal court for aiding in the laundering of tens of millions of dollars from darknet markets notorious for illegal drug sales. A jury determined that Sterlingov, 35, operated a service that obscured digital tokens, making it challenging to trace the source of funds from unlawful activities. Prosecutors revealed that Bitcoin Fog facilitated over $400 million in untraceable transactions, including $78 million linked to known darknet markets.
