Donald Trump's Legal Fees Soared to $50 Million Amid Controversy

Donald Trump has paid his lawyers nearly $50 million since March 2023 as he nears the one-year mark since his first criminal indictment, relying on donors to fight his personal legal battles. His leadership PAC, Save America, spent $76.5 million from Mar 30, 2023, through Feb 2024, with approximately $47.4 million spent specifically on legal consulting and other legal-related services. Trump's legal fees have continued to escalate, and he is expected to face criminal trials in potentially all four of the cases against him. The largest legal payments went to Christopher Kise and his legal associates, with other attorneys representing Trump in his various cases receiving significant payments. Save America has raised $62.3 million since the start of 2023, mainly from small-money donors or transfers from Trump's other campaign efforts. The FEC's lax enforcement on PAC spending raises questions about the legality of using the PAC money for Trump's personal legal fees.
