On March 7, 2024, EDP, a Portuguese energy company, has partnered with battery startup Rondo Energy to address Europe's energy crisis and reduce carbon emissions. Rondo Energy's innovative 'heat battery' technology aims to power industrial processes using renewable energy. The deal involves powering up to 2 gigawatts of heat battery installations across Europe from 2025, offering a sustainable solution to the industrial sector.
