EU countries are preparing to back Kristalina Georgieva for a second term as managing director of the IMF. Finance ministers of EU27 countries are expected to express support for Georgieva at a gathering in Brussels, paving the way for her formal nomination. European backing is crucial, and Georgieva expressed her willingness to continue serving if there is broad support. Her first term was characterized by pandemic relief and support for Ukraine. France and the President of the Eurogroup have also expressed support for her second term candidacy.
