⚠️ Heads up: this article is from our "experimental era" — a beautiful mess of enthusiasm ✨, caffeine ☕, and user-submitted chaos 🤹. We kept it because it’s part of our journey 🛤️ (and hey, everyone has awkward teenage years 😅).

Porsche's popular combustion-powered 718 Boxster coupe and 718 Cayman convertible are being phased out earlier than planned due to European cybersecurity legislation. UN Regulation No. 155 is mandating specific cybersecurity protections in high-volume vehicles sold in Europe, leading to the discontinuation of these models, which were originally set to be replaced with electric variants in 2025. The costly and unreasonable effort required for compliance with the legislation has forced Porsche to cease sales of the combustion-powered 718 models in the EU, while exempting two lower volume models. Although this legislation impacts sales in the EU, combustion models will continue to be available in other regions, including the United States.
