The EU's Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) is facing opposition as member states negotiate the final draft for a vote by March 8. The CSDDD aims to establish a standard for corporate sustainability due diligence, impacting businesses operating in the EU and their supply chains. The legislation was initially poised for approval, but support eroded when key member states indicated abstention. The Belgian Presidency is making a final effort to revive the CSDDD with a watered-down compromise document. Failure to pass the CSDDD before the March 15 deadline could have significant political implications.
