Another major security lapse was discovered, with over 900 websites inadvertently exposing 125 million sensitive data records due to Firebase cloud database misconfiguration. The leaked data includes names, email addresses, phone numbers, passwords, and billing details in plaintext, posing serious security threats. While the researchers managed to warn 85% of the affected websites, only 24% reacted and fixed the issue. Firebase, with over 47,000 customers, has become a key backend service for websites and apps but misconfigured databases are a prevailing cause of data breaches.
