Gen Z's Drive Towards Side Hustles and Online Revenue
The Generation Z workforce is facing struggles as 74% of managers find them difficult to work with. However, a significant portion of Gen Z is willing to abandon traditional work hours to become social media influencers. The Washington Post's recent report highlights Gen Z's interest in online side hustles, where some individuals have started earning substantial monthly incomes. This drive is attributed to their experiences of financial crises, remote schooling during the pandemic, and observing layoffs. Adjusting to higher living costs and stagnant wages has further motivated them towards extra income streams. Notably, a Credit Karma survey revealed that almost half of Gen Z makes more money from online hustles than traditional jobs. These endeavors are also helping them save, invest, and travel. Another survey by Lending Tree indicates that a vast majority of Gen Z and millennials plan to have a side hustle and rely on it to meet their financial needs. The inclination towards digital revenue streams among the younger generations is reshaping the way they approach financial stability.
