London-based Gocycle, founded by Richard Thorpe, has unveiled a new range of sleek folding cargo ebikes. The CX series, including the CXi and the premium CX-plus, boasts a lightweight design and impressive load capacity. These F1-inspired ebikes are built to carry up to 220kg including riders, passengers, and cargo. The innovative handrail design, inspired by F1 car safety features, enhances protection for passengers. With a range of approximately 80 kilometres and a maximum speed of 32 km/h, the CX is positioned to cater to urban commuters. However, at a starting price of €7,000 for the CXi and €8,210 for the CX-plus, affordability may be a concern for potential buyers. While Gocycle's foray into cargo ebikes is ambitious, the practicality and market demand remain to be seen in light of existing multimodal transportation options and the high price point.
