The International Criminal Court has issued warrants of arrest for two Russian military commanders, Sergei Ivanovich Kobylash and Viktor Nikolayevich Sokolov, for alleged war crimes committed in Ukraine. The warrants come two years after the investigation into the situation in Ukraine. The commanders are accused of directing attacks at civilian objects and causing excessive harm to civilians and damage to civilian objects. The ICC emphasized the importance of enforcing international humanitarian law. Although Russia does not recognize the warrants, they can still be executed by State Parties to the Rome Statute. As the war on Ukraine continues, efforts towards justice and accountability are being pursued domestically and internationally.
