Security researchers have discovered a malicious backdoor in a widely used compression tool, xz Utils, affecting major Linux distributions including Red Hat, Debian, and others. The backdoor introduces a security threat to encrypted SSH connections and remote system access. Although not impacting production systems, the discovery has raised serious concerns regarding system vulnerabilities.
