Mercedes-Benz has announced a recall of more than 116,000 vehicles due to loose electrical wiring under the passenger seat, increasing the risk of a fire. The affected vehicles include some AMG GLE, GLE, and Maybach models manufactured from 2019 to 2024 for which the automaker will inspect and tighten the wiring for free. This recent recall adds to three other recalls issued by Mercedes-Benz in the last month, continuing a string of safety concerns. The automaker has cited nearby mechanical work during the manufacturing process as the cause of the loose wiring, emphasizing that no crashes or injuries resulted from the defect. The recall also includes a loose 48-volt ground connection that could cause the wiring to overheat and regulators have advised affected customers to contact Mercedes-Benz dealers for inspection. This latest recall reflects an ongoing trend in the automotive industry with several major car manufacturers issuing recalls addressing various safety concerns.
