Microsoft has upgraded its Copilot's free tier, offering GPT-4 Turbo, the OpenAI model, for all users. Access to GPT-4 Turbo requires setting Copilot to Creative or Precise mode for free users. Copilot Pro subscribers still have access to the model but can also switch to older versions. GPT-4 Turbo, trained on data up to April 2023, can handle text-to-speech prompts and has the capacity to accept 128,000 tokens, the highest among the GPT versions. With generative AI becoming commonplace, Microsoft's decision to bring GPT-4 Turbo to its free Copilot tier raises questions about future AI models. OpenAI's potential release of GPT-4.5 Turbo and Microsoft's strategy to differentiate Copilot versions further add intrigue to the AI landscape.
