Nigeria is set to almost triple energy prices within weeks, aiming to attract new investment and reduce an estimated $2.3 billion spent to cap tariffs. Power companies are anticipated to increase prices to 200 naira ($0.15) per kilowatt-hour from 68 naira for urban consumers this month. These adjustments are part of the effort to address the significant consumption disparity, as 15% of the population reportedly consumes 40% of the nation's electricity. The government's decision is expected to impact the energy landscape significantly.
