Stellantis NV is set to reduce thousands of jobs in Italy, particularly at facilities including Melfi and Pomigliano D’Arco, as part of a cost-saving initiative. This comes after CEO Carlos Tavares attempted to ease tensions with the Italian government regarding plans to move production to lower-cost countries. The cuts, totaling 8% of the Fiat maker’s workforce in the country, amount to 3,597 jobs, as reported by the Fiom union. The move reflects the challenges faced by the auto industry in optimizing production and balancing cost pressures amid evolving market dynamics.
