Tesla Inc.’s first-quarter sales results have not lived up to market expectations, leading to a setback in the company's position as the largest battery electric vehicle manufacturer. Despite predictions indicating a decline in vehicle deliveries, Tesla's actual sales figures fell significantly short. Initial estimates approximated 530,000 units, which had gradually decreased to around 450,000 before ultimately landing at just under 387,000, missing the reduced forecast by 14%. This outcome is particularly stark in comparison to its main rival, BYD Co. Ltd., which also experienced a decline in sales of battery electric vehicles, albeit to a lesser extent. Consequently, this has raised concerns and impacted Tesla's standing in the market.
