A recent study indicates that Thailand has the potential to significantly boost tourism revenue by legalizing casinos within large entertainment complexes. The study, conducted by a panel of lawmakers, projects that the average tourist spending could increase by 52% to 65,050 baht ($1,790) per trip once these entertainment hubs are established. This surge in spending may result in additional earnings of up to 448.8 billion baht, potentially bolstering the country’s gross domestic product growth by 1.16 percentage points. The study's findings are expected to be submitted to parliament, outlining the potential positive impact of legalizing casinos on Thailand's tourism sector and economy.
