The US government is ramping up efforts to counter Beijing's chip ambitions by requesting South Korea to impose limitations on semiconductor technology exports to China. This mirrors the measures announced by the US Department of Commerce in 2022. American officials specifically aim for restrictions on the supply of equipment and technologies used in the production of advanced logic and memory chips to China. The focal points involve logic chips exceeding 14-nanometer and a type of memory known as DRAM beyond 18nm. This move signifies the escalating efforts to curb China's chip advancement and reflects the continual strategic maneuvers in the semiconductor industry.
