WarpStream, a startup, has secured a $20 million investment. The company is focused on revolutionizing streaming for cloud-native environments and aims to reduce operational costs. Their approach separates compute from storage by utilizing an object storage service like Amazon S3, eliminating inter-zone networking costs. This innovation simplifies and reduces the operational burden of large scale Kafka workloads. Co-founders Richard Artoul and Ryan Worl are leveraging their experience from previous jobs to build a new solution that significantly drives down costs for users. Two deployment options are available: customers can either bring their own cloud and install WarpStream, or opt for a fully managed serverless option. The company is also focused on growing its team, aiming to double its headcount by the end of the year. The $20 million investment was led by Greylock and Amplify Partners, with additional support from industry luminaries through angel investments.
