The platform known as X, formerly Twitter, is developing a new addition to its Communities feature that would enable users to create groups for X-rated material, as revealed by app researchers. Watchful researcher Daniel Buchuk and independent researcher Nima Owji found evidence of this feature's development. X introduced its Communities feature in 2021, allowing users to post within interest-based subgroups. Despite significant changes after Elon Musk's acquisition, certain features like Communities remained unchanged. Additionally, X has not made much progress in supporting its significant population of online sex workers. The platform's more lenient policy on adult content is crucial for these workers. While adult creators can post explicit content on X, they are unable to monetize it on the platform. However, the new NSFW Communities feature could provide them with a more direct way to reach their audience. Although the feature is in development, its actual implementation is uncertain. Twitter, now recognized as X, has been working on various features to mitigate problems related to adult content, child sexual exploitation, and non-consensual content. The platform claims to have suspended millions of accounts for violating child sexual exploitation policies in an effort to combat these issues.
